In 2008, when savvy retail entrepreneur Lee Ann Sauter set out to revolutionize the shopping experience at luxury resorts worldwide, she chose Hualalai Resort as the launching pad for her Los Angeles-based Seaside Luxe, LLC. The success story that followed is detailed in the May 2012 issue of Forbes Magazine and it reads in part “... in just over a year of operation Seaside Luxe and Seaside Beach Boutique were generating six times the revenue” previously rung up in the completely re-designed retail spaces at Hualalai.
Financial rewards aside, retail therapy is now on par with all of the other award winning amenities here from spa services to golf facilities and ocean sports to tennis gardens – and just as stimulating! “We created retail outlets that are destinations in themselves and that absolutely fit the look and feel of Hualalai Resort. Our merchandise is specifically curated for the residents and guests here. The result is a unique sense of place and personalized style,” Sauter says. In addition to well-known international designers such as Lanvin, Missoni and Pucci, expect to discover one-of-a-kind finds from locales around the globe and exclusive, custom-made fashions, jewelry and furniture at the shops.
Adding to the excitement are frequent trunk shows featuring design partners who create merchandise exclusively for Seaside Luxe and Seaside Beach boutiques, including coastal-modern furniture designer Tim Clarke and jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth among others. Seaside Luxe is located directly below the Four Seasons Resort lobby; Seaside Beach Boutique is adjacent to the Hualalai Spa.
