Summer Fun at Hualalai

From our Hualalai Real Estate Blog:

Member-only special events have been key to creating a strong sense of community here at Hualalai Resort since the formal Club program (reserved exclusively for property owners) was introduced in 2002. And while a diverse, constantly evolving calendar of events exists throughout the year – from member-guest golf tournaments and innovative culinary programs to holiday celebrations and Hawaiian cultural events – activity levels soar during the summer season.

As things heat up, there’s an emphasis on friendly competition – on land and on the water – and relaxed indulgence! New this year is Hualalai Tennis Club’s First Annual Member Tennis Camp and Tournament set for late this month, featuring three days of drills, video analysis and doubles play with the pros. A round robin doubles tournament on the fourth day is followed by an awards dinner and dance at the Residents’ Beach House.

August features some of the Club’s most anticipated events of the year, including the classic Annual Canoe Regatta now in its 11th year. The race, held the first Friday in August (commemorating the opening of the Canoe Club facility in 2002) launches three days filled with spirited competition and celebration. On Saturday, the games move from ocean to Sports Club for the Annual Spin Challenge and Zumbathon. Sunday the action shifts again, this time up mauka (towards the mountains) to the member-only Ke‘olu Clubhouse and Golf Course for the annual Summer Classic Golf Tournament and Endless Summer Bash after-party (an awards dinner and dance). Entertainment is always a surprise and always exciting, varying through the years to include legendary rock stars such as Mick Fleetwood and hot, contemporary Hawaiian artists such as Jake Shimabakuro. Just between you and me, rumor has it that this year one of the founding members of that high flying band of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s – Jefferson Airplane, then Jefferson Starship – will be rocking the stage at Ke’olu! That’s right, guitarist extraordinaire Craig Chaquico!
