Firing it up!

From the Hualalai Real Estate blog:

One of the great things about Hawaii’s weather is that it allows you to cook outdoors all year long. But there’s just something about summer that fuels the urge to fire up the grill a lot more often. It’s the season to kick back and enjoy casual outdoor dinners at home with family and friends.

The first custom homes and villas built here in the late nineties revolutionized the idea of outdoor cooking forever with state-of- the-art built in grilles, bars and assorted amenities, gracing every lanai. Today, that concept has exploded with high-tech, tricked-out complete outdoor kitchens at the top of every buyer’s “must have” list. Among the most recent, can’t live without toys? Flat iron Evo Grills, rotisseries and wood-burning pizza ovens. Campfire-style wood-burning pits also are becoming more popular for that summertime family classic activity: toasting marshmallows and s’mores over an open fire, while swapping ghost stories well into the evening. With recent advancements in the quality of these outdoor appliances, outdoor furniture and fabrics, outdoor cooking and dining are not only more versatile, exciting and fun, but much more attractive and comfortable as well. To get your grill- on this summer, Chef Nick Mastrascusa, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, offers this tip: “Go low (as in temperature) and slow (as in time) to create a perfectly-tender, flavorful tenderloin of beef on your Kiawe-wood fired grille.”
